About

A longevity intelligence publication for Singapore and Australia.

variis reports on the science, business, and policy of living longer, with the discipline of a financial newsroom. We source every claim, grade the evidence, and refuse to overclaim. Reading is free.

Every figure is live, counted from what variis tracks across Singapore and Australia right now, and it grows as the coverage does.

What we cover

Five pillars, in plain language.

Healthspan science

The biology of ageing and the interventions that credibly move the needle on it. New trials, meta-analyses, and mechanistic work, translated without hype.

Protocols and interventions

What people are actually doing: nutrition, training, sleep, pharmacology, supplementation. What the evidence supports, what it does not, and what remains genuinely unknown.

Clinics and care

The clinics, diagnostics, and care models emerging across the region. Pricing, standards, staffing, and outcomes where they exist.

Markets and capital

The companies, funds, and deals building the longevity economy. Who is raising, who is shipping, what the unit economics look like.

Policy and regulation

How Singapore's Ministry of Health, the TGA in Australia, data-protection regimes, and reimbursement frameworks shape what patients can access and what operators can build.

How we work

Every piece moves through four gates.

Source, grade, verify, review. It is deliberately slower than the internet, and that is the whole point.

1. Source

Every claim is logged against a primary source with a live link. No "studies show" without a named study.

2. Grade

Each claim carries a visible evidence signal, from randomised trial to expert opinion, so you can weigh it yourself.

3. Verify

A separate pass checks the draft against the sourced material before anything is published.

4. Review

Every piece is reviewed and approved by a named human editor who carries byline responsibility. AI assists the drafting; it never decides what is true, and its use is disclosed on the AI transparency page.

What variis is not

Honest about the edges.

Not medical advice

Nothing here is a personal recommendation. Consult a qualified clinician before acting on anything you read.

Not a clinic recommender

We report on clinics, we do not rank or route patients to them, and we take no fees from the providers we cover.

Not a stock tip service

We cover markets and capital as a beat, not as a signal.

Not a research journal

We report on the literature, we do not add to it.

Independence and standards

Independent, and accountable in the open.

We take no fees from the providers we cover. The full methodology, our use of AI, and every correction are public and dated.

Why Singapore and Australia

Two markets, covered properly.

Both markets are moving unusually fast on longevity. Singapore has a national healthy-ageing agenda, a dense clinical and biotech base, and PDPA as its data regime. Australia has a strong primary-care tradition, an active longevity clinic build-out, and the Privacy Act reforms currently reshaping how health data is handled.

Covering both together, and nothing else, is a deliberate editorial choice. Geographic discipline is how a small newsroom stays useful.
